Joan Fogarty, MSc has worked as a Careers Advisor/Coach/Facilitator with multicultural groups and individuals including: third-level students, adults, and senior level employees designing and running career planning workshops, training staff, and providing one-to-one coaching and career guidance sessions to clients. Also, she has over fifteen years of international business experience in senior Marketing/Advertising positions in corporate environments both in Ireland and New York, US. Joan is now based in Miami, Florida working as a Licensed Health Insurance Agent.
She is a professional member of the Institute of Guidance Counsellors (ICG) Ireland and is a qualified Life and Business Coach and Certified Recruiter and member, National Recruitment Federation of Ireland (NRF). She is also, a Certified Mediator and member of the Mediators’ Institute of Ireland (MII) and has utilised these skills throughout her career when dealing with conflict and to negotiate successful outcomes in her work and projects to date. She is very excited to be part of the new ARC Chapter in Miami, Florida.
After spending several years in New York, Joan returned to Ireland in 2003 and worked within the Irish University Sector while completing a MSc in Educational Guidance and Counselling at Trinity College Dublin, 2005. She worked at Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin) as a Careers Advisor for Engineering Students, at University College Dublin (UCD) as the Graduate Recruitment Manager, and at the UCD Smurfit Business School as Business Development Manager, for Executive Education. She has also, undertaken contracts and has co-divised and worked on many job employment initiatives for the unemployed and disadvantaged.
Previous, to this, she worked in Quality Assurance with the Irish Universities Quality Board (IUQB) for 8 years as it’s Communications and Information Manager where she researched and wrote two publications on Quality Assurance which were widely requested both in Ireland and Europe. She was contracted by the Higher Education Authority (HEA) for their Springboard+ programme for unemployed adults transitioning back into the workforce as a telephonic,Career Guidance Counsellor. While on Springboard+ she initiated interacting with employers (relevant to the programmes being offered) to explore internships and jobs for participants as partnering with industry was a ‘win’ for both parties.
